(7 photos of a 1996 Laser Red Saleen S281 Cobra Mustang Convertible) This is a Laser Red 1996 Mustang Cobra Saleen S-281 Speedster. It's a Saleen conversion on a Cobra instead of a regular Mustang. Only eleven Cobras were converted to Saleens in 1996 - seven of them where convertibles.
(8 photos of a 1997 Extreme Rainbow Purple Saleen S281 Cobra Mustang Convertible) This 1997 Mustang Saleen S-281 Cobra convertible speedster is painted Extreme Rainbow. Extreme Rainbow is a $11,000+ special color that Saleen offered many years. The paint process was 4-coats dark blue, color sanded, 3-coats of Extreme Rainbow, color sanded again, followed by an additional 2-coats of Extreme Rainbow, and then 4-coats of urethane clear. The finish then received a final wet-sand by hand and polishing, resulting in the exceptional show quality finish achieved. This is Saleen factory #173 vehicle for 1997. Besides the unusual paint, this one was also ordered with a Supercharger!
